Membership Structure and Benefits
Well for the person who likes the detail there’s lots that follows, GAFAA most importantly wants our members to get involved on the field and enjoy the journey of our common interest in the game. The following tells you a little more of our sense of direction along with the supporting policies of GAFAA.
Strategy for GAFAA to Generate Revenue and Support the Sport
1. Membership Dues and Tiered Membership Options:
GAFAA offers different membership tiers with varying benefits and pricing structures. Providing basic and premium membership options to cater to the diverse needs and budgets of Alumni.
GAFAA hopes to communicate the exclusive perks and value-added benefits that come with each membership tier to incentivize alumni to choose higher-tier memberships. Truthfully folks the higher the membership the higher the perks we can put on at the GAFAA tent where you are welcome to enjoy a good time.
With an estimated past 50,000 Alumni we are looking to contact and invite to the GAFAA, your first help is simply spreading the word to your old contacts. If you haven’t already followed our Facebook page GAFAA Official Facebook page, flick through the posts and like a few along the way. If you have any old photos, memorabilia or posts, we would love to hear from you. Let’s virtually get the word out so we can then easily communicate how all can get involved on the field.
2. Sponsorship and Corporate Partnerships:
GAFAA seeks partnerships and sponsorships with companies, organizations, and brands aligned with GAFAA's values and objectives. Tailored sponsorship packages that offer brand visibility, promotional opportunities, and access to the gridiron alumni community are available.
GAFAA collaborates with sponsors to create mutually beneficial initiatives, such as sponsored events, branded merchandise, or exclusive offers for GAFAA members.
We invite GAFAA Members with contacts that may wish to support GAFAA to reach out to us to discuss your thoughts. Let’s work together to secure long-term relationships with great sponsors that have a natural want to be involved. GAFAA has much to offer a sponsor in return for their support. 3. Fundraising Events and Campaigns:
Organize fundraising events, such as charity matches, tournaments, or galas, to raise funds for GAFAA and support the development of gridiron and flag football in Australasia.
Launch targeted fundraising campaigns, leveraging social media, email marketing, and online platforms to reach a wider audience and encourage donations from alumni, supporters, and the general public.
GAFAA has a strong connection to the impact of CTE in the sport and would like as GAFAA to unite our members in supporting this cause.
4. Merchandise Sales:
Develop a line of branded merchandise, including apparel, accessories, and memorabilia. Offer these items for sale to GAFAA members and fans, both online and during events.
Partner with local vendors or e-commerce platforms to handle merchandise production, sales, and fulfillment logistics. GAFAA is built to be seen on the field, wearing your GAF to the game is support enough to both teams and not to mention a free ticket to the GAFAA tent.
5. Events and Workshops:
Organize paid events, workshops, and training sessions led by industry experts, former players, or renowned coaches. Offer specialized clinics, skill development programs, or coaching certifications that attract participants and generate revenue.
6. Grants and Sponsorship Applications:
Research and apply for grants, scholarships, and sponsorship opportunities available within the sports industry, foundations, and government organizations. Seek funding to support GAFAA's initiatives, community projects, and development programs. Members agree to support applications in support of the sport.
7. Digital Advertising and Partnerships:
Monetize GAFAA's online presence by leveraging digital advertising platforms.
Engage with local businesses, sports-related platforms, and online communities to explore potential collaborations that generate revenue through joint advertising or revenue-sharing initiatives.
8. Education and Training Programs:
Develop educational programs, certifications, or online courses related to gridiron and flag football. Offer these programs to alumni, coaches, and enthusiasts who seek to enhance their knowledge and skills in the sport.
By implementing some or all of these strategies, GAFAA can generate substantial funds to support the sport's growth, invest in development programs, provide resources for alumni, and strengthen its position as a leading gridiron and flag football association in Australasia.
We welcome all Members to think of how they could get involved to help the GAFAA grow in support of the game.
Different Membership Tiers and Their Respective Benefits
GAFAA offers various membership tiers to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of alumni. Each tier provides specific benefits and privileges designed to enhance the member experience and foster engagement within the association.
Furthermore, GAFAA recognizes the significant contributions of the "Dirty Dozen," the founding architects and drivers of the association, by granting them Steering Committee positions within the board in their respective roles. Their roles are instrumental in overseeing and managing specific sections of GAFAA.
1. Basic Membership:
- Access to GAFAA's online community and networking platform.
- Regular updates on upcoming events, news, and opportunities within the gridiron community.
- Opportunity to attend GAFAA-hosted events, workshops, and seminars.
- Eligibility to participate in member-exclusive competitions and giveaways.
- Voting rights for the election of GAFAA's executive positions.
- A welcome to the GAFAA Tent.
- Free following of GAFAA available at GAFAA Official Facebook page.
2. Premium Membership:
- As described by GAFAA from time to time. All benefits of Basic Membership.
- Priority registration and discounts for GAFAA events and programs.
- Exclusive access to premium content, including webinars, masterclasses, and expert interviews.
- Recognition as a premium member on GAFAA's website and official communications.
- Priority consideration for leadership roles within GAFAA committees and working groups.
- A welcome to the GAFAA Tent.
3. VIP Membership:
- By Application. All benefits of Premium Membership.
- Complimentary access to GAFAA's flagship events and gala dinners.
- Personalized assistance and support from the GAFAA team for specific requests or inquiries.
- Invitation to exclusive VIP networking events with influential figures from the gridiron community.
- This is more about how we can work together to advance the game. We welcome smart people who share the vision and should have a bit of red carpet and thanks for efforts to get to the next step of our development.
- VIP recognition and branding opportunities at GAFAA events and promotional materials.
The "Dirty Dozen" Board Membership
Exclusive invitation to be part of the "Dirty Dozen" board, positions held to retirement though always honoured, comprising the founding architects and drivers of GAFAA. Step up if you are a serious contributor to our goals.
Special roles and responsibilities assigned to each member of the "Dirty Dozen" board, overseeing specific sections of GAFAA's operations and development. They are the collective of the GAFAA spirit, active involvement in decision-making processes, and shaping the direction of GAFAA.

The number of ordinary members is unlimited.
Automatic Membership
A person who, on the day the association is incorporated, was a member of the unincorporated association and who, on or before a day fixed by the management committee, agrees in writing to become a member of the incorporated association, must be admitted by the management committee:
- To the equivalent class of membership of the association as the member held in the unincorporated association; or
- If there is no equivalent class of membership—as an ordinary member.
New Membership
- An applicant for membership must be proposed by one member and seconded by another member.
- An application for membership must be in writing, signed by the applicant, proposer, and seconder.
- The application must follow the form decided by the management committee.
Membership Fees
- The membership fee for each class is decided by members in a general meeting.
- Fees must be paid in the manner decided by the management committee.
- Members transitioning from an unincorporated association who have already paid their subscription are not required to pay again until the next due date.
Admission and Rejection of New Members
- The management committee reviews membership applications at the next meeting.
- Applicants are informed about the association's public liability insurance.
- A majority vote is required for admission.
- Applicants receive a written decision from the secretary.
When Membership Ends
- Members may resign by submitting written notice to the secretary.
- The management committee may terminate membership for serious offenses, non-compliance, unpaid fees, or conduct damaging to the association.
- Before termination, members are given an opportunity to respond.
Appeal Against Rejection or Termination
- Applicants or terminated members may appeal in writing within one month.
- A general meeting must be called within three months to decide the appeal.
- The applicant and the committee both present their cases before a vote.
- If the appeal is unsuccessful, the membership fee is refunded.
Register of Members
- The management committee maintains a register of members, including names, addresses, membership dates, and termination details.
- Members can request to inspect the register.
- Information may be withheld if disclosure poses a risk to the member.
Prohibition on Use of Member Information
- Member information cannot be used for unsolicited advertising or shared without approval.
- Any violation of this rule is subject to review by the association.
Terms and Conditions
The GAFAA Members, websites, applications, and other digital platforms (“GAFAA”) are operated by Gridiron and Flag Alumni Australasia – Supporters Club Inc on behalf of all members that make GAFAA great. GAFAA respects members and expects the same in return.
Use of GAFAA and any information or services provided is subject to these terms and conditions and any additional rules, disclaimers, and notices posted on GAFAA platforms. By registering on GAFAA or using any part of its services, users agree to these terms.
1. Use of the GAFAA
The GAFAA provides a platform for fans and members to learn about products, services, news, and events related to Gridiron and Flag football.
- Users may only use GAFAA for personal, non-commercial purposes.
- Users must not use GAFAA in any way that causes harm or loss to GAFAA.
2. Registration
Users may register to access premium content and additional features. Registration requires providing accurate and up-to-date information.
- Users must keep their login details secure and not share them with others.
- GAFAA assumes that all activity under a user’s login is performed by the registered user.
3. Access and Use
- GAFAA reserves the right to modify or cancel user access if they breach terms or become ineligible.
- GAFAA cannot guarantee uninterrupted service and users access it at their own risk.
4. User-Posted Content
Users may submit content such as text, photos, and videos, which must adhere to GAFAA’s guidelines.
- GAFAA may remove content that is inappropriate or breaches terms.
- Users grant GAFAA permission to use submitted content for promotional purposes.
5. Conduct of Users
- Users must not post offensive, unlawful, or defamatory content.
- Content must not include advertising, personal data of others, or malicious software.
6. Liability and Disclaimer
GAFAA does not guarantee the accuracy or security of information and is not liable for losses incurred from using its services.
- GAFAA is not responsible for the actions or opinions of users.
- Users access third-party links at their own risk.
7. Copyright
All GAFAA content is protected by copyright. Users may not reproduce or distribute content without permission.
8. Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Users agree to submit to its courts in case of disputes.
9. Changes to Terms
GAFAA reserves the right to amend these terms at any time. Continued use of GAFAA after updates signifies agreement to the new terms.
